We have reached the last part of what it means to write relevant and effective content for a website, whether it is a presentation or sales site, or articles. The next two parts I will dedicate to reviewing and maintaining the created content, an important part of the writing process.

  1. Content Maintenance

Content needs to be reviewed from time to time, which I am reminded of every time I talk about how to make content. Why is it important? Because it is possible that some parts of the text expire, which is why, at predetermined intervals (3, 6, 9, 12 months), what we have written must be reread by us or a specialist in the field. If the information provided is no longer up-to-date, it must be rewritten or, in some cases, supplemented.

  1. Create a content plan

Someone once told me that I have a fixation on planning, and I can only agree with him. We cannot work without initial planning, especially in the case of a blog, because we risk repeating a piece of information or making the reader unaccustomed to returning to the site. This planning should be done over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, depending on the content we create. This planning must not miss the topic we are writing about, the date on which we publish the content and the periods when it will be revised.

  1. Content management

There is a possibility that a website has several content creators, and precisely for this it is necessary to establish from the very beginning how the content is managed. There are two methods: centralized and decentralized.

Centralized administration means that several content creators write texts, and they are sent to a person who corrects them, as necessary, and publishes them online.

In contrast, decentralized administration means that more content creators write texts, but are also responsible for their “piece”. Each of them must understand what their role is and follow the planning carried out beforehand.

  1. Making a style guide

For a content site, such as BunaDimineata.ro, it is important that each author writes the articles in their own style, because by doing so they add value and retain a certain type of reader. But if we are talking about a company blog or a presentation/sales site, it is important that the writing style is the same, and for this it is necessary to make a style guide that includes: tone of voice, headings, level of writing, terminologies used, type of lists, uniqueness of the company and other characteristics that must be followed by the person who makes the content. When someone new makes the content, they will read this guide and know what to watch and how to write.

It is important not to confuse the reader by publishing content written in multiple tones and styles, only if this is signaled by the author’s introduction.
