Instagram has recently launched new features that allow users to moderate comments more easily, but also features that provide some safety to users, through a function similar to what Snapchat offers.

Thus, users will be notified when someone takes a screenshot of their content and will be able to like or block various comments under each post.

Positivity in comments

The mobile app launched new comment moderation features in early December to create a more positive means of communication. Thus, users will now have the option to close comments for certain posts. At the same time, they will be able to block or like various comments. This measure supports a positive attitude in the online environment and, indirectly, helps to combat the phenomenon of cyberbullying.

These new features complement those that allow you to filter comments based on specific keywords. For these, users can specify those keywords that can be considered malicious or that can be part of online attacks, and the comments that will contain them will be automatically hidden.

Along with comment moderation, features have also been launched that allow you to remove certain users from a private account or anonymously flag posts that promote or illustrate users’ self-destruction or dangerous intentions (such as suicidal intent).

Screenshot, announced in case of direct messages

The social platform announced at the end of November that they will introduce a function similar to Snapchat’s, through which users will be notified if another user takes a screenshot of a direct message sent by him.

This measure was taken to provide some protection to users and to make them more careful about what they do publicly on the internet. The feature was announced shortly after disappearing messages and live videos were released.

Instagram has launched many new features lately, many designed for the safety of users, but in addition to that, the platform has also launched many options that seem to copy Snapchat in part or in full.
