For 16 years, unique perspectives and diverse personalities have successfully made up the agency known as Klain. Like a well-knit core, projects and campaigns reflect elements of each team member. Because every voice counts and because behind each project lies a different personality, today we talk to Augusta, the person who juggles stories, words and everything related to writing.

1. Let’s start with the basics. What position do you have within the Klain team and how long have you been with us?

Hello, Augusta here! I am part of the marketing department at Klain, where I work on Social Media, Content Writing and Audit. As it happens, exactly one year ago, in September 2022, I joined Klain. So I have my first anniversary in Klain and I’m glad to see this as a whole alongside the company’s 16th anniversary.

2. How did your adventure with the Klain team begin?

I met my current colleagues sometime at the beginning of last summer, through a student program. Klain participated in this program with some trainings, and I signed up ready to discover marketing. After the internship, I officially became part of the team.

3. How do you stay up to date with new trends and technologies in the field?

The world of marketing is really vast, so resources are everywhere. I choose to be up to date with updates in an organic way: I follow blogs of interest, dedicated Instagram pages and the nicest thing is when I share the news with our team.

4. How has your vision of digital marketing evolved over the years and how have you adapted to changes in the industry?

Marketing is still a fresh field for me. I started to approach this in high school, when I found out about the “copywriter job”, which seemed appropriate for a person like me, who has dedicated a lot of his life to writing. My vision of marketing is constantly changing – I am learning more and more that it is a field that requires adaptability. Especially with the recent development of Artificial Intelligence, we are put in the situation of delegating tasks to technology. However, I believe that the human part will always have a place in marketing.

5. Tell us about an experience where you worked closely with other departments to successfully implement a campaign.

In my experience in my first year in marketing, I learned that the process is always collaborative and not individual. I wouldn’t necessarily have anticipated this (especially since it’s about writing what I work on), but monthly jobs and specific campaigns are never the result of just two hands. We have had productive experiences in brainstorming meetings at Klain, where we create a discussion space for everyone who has ideas: those in marketing, colleagues working on design, our account managers and so on.

6. How do you approach defining and measuring the success of a marketing campaign? What are your key metrics?

Defining the objectives, preparing the campaign and then measuring the results is a job of the project team. Personally, I participate in these discussions and come up with ideas. I’m very interested in the impact we create, especially for optimizing future efforts. We look at both the concrete results and what feedback we receive from the client – this is one of the things that are of great importance to me.

7. What’s the most surprising and unexpected thing you’ve learned in your career so far?

I didn’t expect to work so much with technical things: measurements, statistics, implementation of materials, actually working on the platforms we use. The field combines creativity with data. I was relying on the first of them and on the soft skills part, so it was necessary to adapt to the technical and scientific part. Now I’m merging both parts into the materials I’m creating.

8. How do you prioritize and manage your tasks in a dynamic and challenging environment like digital marketing?

It’s obvious that in marketing we are not talking about routine work. Managing tasks in the context of the changes that occur day by day can be stressful, but it’s something you get used to. I appreciate that everyone I work with is aware of this, and the meetings about the dynamics of the field, such as a series of meetings on AI a few months ago, keep us informed.

9. What are your favorite methods to maintain your creativity?

My creativity, whether I refer to my career or outside of it, is a resource that I care a lot about. Even if it’s something that comes naturally to me mainly, I’m concerned about its continuous feeding. I like to interact with new ideas, read literature, listen to various music, go out in nature. All of this does not give me actual ideas, but it creates the mental energy for me to use in my creative endeavors.

10. What is the campaign or project you are most proud of and why?

I am thinking of one of the projects with very good results that we had at the beginning of the year. But not only for its end I am proud, but for the process through which we reached the results: a very well synchronized teamwork, adaptation to optimizations, tactics that we combined efficiently and a clean collaboration with the client. All the necessary points were achieved for the project to run smoothly and so it was!

11. What do you think will be the future of digital marketing and what elements will be essential?

It’s quite easy to anticipate which path digital marketing is taking, because the direction (as technology, science, tactics, new platforms) is given by the American and Western context in general. At the local level, you are rather responsible for defining your own efforts against this background. As was the exponential growth of video content, now the extensive development of AI and what will come, these are the contexts in which you build new strategies locally.

12. How do you like to spend time outside of work and how do these activities influence your vision of marketing?

I like to practice my thinking through different things: I read, write, discuss ideas with different people, do research on the most varied things. My day-to-day activities also influence my performance in the field. I am an analytical person, with a great attention to detail and organization (but a creative one), and at work I am invited to apply these things.

13. What is the tool or thing without which you could not imagine a day of work in your department?

The platform where I make my “to do list”. Maybe it’s something not too specific for marketing, but the truth is that our work is done from multiple tasks. My day in Klain starts with checking and planning my daily work, which I then do and uncheck from the list.

14. Tell a funny memory with Klain!

It was always very nice when I went to teambuildings. I remember when we went to an escape room, where we had to work as a team to find the pirates’ treasure. It was very funny when we had to recognize some symbols, and we forgot the terms “rudder” or “anchor” and called them “ship steering wheel” and “handbrake”.

15. If our team were a superhero, what would be our secret superpower?

I think we would be a superhero-chameleon. I am referring to our ability to adapt according to the situation to be “saved”. We work with very diverse clients, and a large part of what we do is to operate specifically in technical fields, from HoReCa, medical and much more.

16. How would you like to see our team evolve and grow in the next 16 years?

I imagine Klain in the coming years as a team of specialists with a beautiful reputation at national and, why not, internationally. I think we have the potential to grow as a business and as a group of people who collaborate efficiently, and the field of marketing to be something that we are all good at in a specific niche. I wish us a lot of growth!
