The consumer goods and services market has developed at lightning speed in recent years, so businesses have been looking for new ways to differentiate themselves from the competition and to attract as many customers as possible. The age of technology came as a big breath of fresh air because new ways of promotion and loyalty were created. Companies have moved part of their business online and thus new jobs have started to develop, which 20 years ago no one would have imagined. One of these jobs is that of a Social Media specialist, who deals with the online presence of a company. Obviously, as more and more companies have made Facebook pages, profiles on LinkedIn, Instagram or Pinterest, Social Media specialists have to look for other methods to attract new customers and keep the current ones. And because of this, more and more mistakes began to be made. Here are the 15 most important mistakes to avoid on a Facebook business page.

  1. You post too much in one day

It is recommended to have at least two posts on the Facebook page: one related to the business (sales, promotions, etc.) and one related to the field of activity in a more friendly manner. Even if you want to have as much interaction as possible from your fans, be careful not to fall into the trap of too many posts per day, because you risk fans giving you unlike or unfollow because you invade their wall too much. Rather than having many and less qualitative posts, you better focus on producing relevant and high-quality content, but with a lower post rate.

  1. You post too little in a certain period

It is important not to fall to the opposite extreme and not to have any posts on social media pages at all, respectively to be reduced. If you don’t post constantly, the community completely forgets about you and your activity, so they will turn their attention to other similar businesses. With the help of a communication plan, you can manage the situation so that there is a balance between posts and interact with followers.

  1. Use your friends page instead of your fan page

It is one of the basic mistakes for a business. Never use the friends page to promote your business, because no one wants to be friends with Magazin Alimentar de Colț. On top of that, a fan page looks much more professional, where you can keep them updated with news and information about your company.

  1. Delete or ignore negative comments and messages

Any Social Media specialist you ask will give you the same answer to the question: What do I do with negative comments? It is not recommended to delete or ignore them at all, it will only bring you disadvantages in the long run. There is a possibility that someone will leave you an opinion that is not to your liking, but you should enjoy it. This way you can see if you made a mistake somewhere, if your products/services need improvement and, on top of that, you can see real-time feedback related to your company. Always respond in a kind manner and come back with another answer when you have solved the problem.

  1. You don’t post high-quality images

Pictures are worth a thousand words, and this applies in any field, even in Social Media. Always keep in mind that your photos are clear and high resolution. If the photos belong to you, you can also put your company logo on them.

  1. Posting too much text

No one is going to sit and read your entire description on Facebook if it is longer than a few lines. Being social networks, people prefer interaction to the detriment of long texts. If you have a little more to say, send your customers to the blog page and there give them all the details and information they need to be up to date with your products or services.

  1. You don’t cite sources

Speaking of pictures, there is a possibility that you will have to take a picture from the internet. Never put a picture taken from elsewhere without citing the source. This is done like this: Photo:shortlink

  1. Share things you like as a person

Many Facebook page administrators make the mistake of liking certain posts of friends or other companies with the business page or sharing with the business page to posts that they find interesting from their point of view, as people. You, as a business page, must maintain a clean image, and the associations between you and other companies are made only on a partnership basis. And your personal likes don’t have to be reflected on the page you manage.

  1. You don’t have a full profile

What is the phone number for the contact? What web page do you have? What about an address where we can visit your company? Don’t forget to put them in the information section of the business page, so that potential and current customers can get in touch with you. Also, set a profile picture and a photo cover that reflects your business, but also a short description.

  1. You only make a sale

At some point, fans will get bored and abandon following you because they are tired of all the promotions and sales you want to make on your Facebook page. If that’s all you’re posting, you should change your strategy a bit. It is also recommended to have more human posts, which reflect the fact that you care about your customers and not just want to make a profit on their backs.

  1. You only post one kind of messages

Just texts? Just pictures? Just links? Do you find yourself in one of these categories? If so, it would be advisable to make a plan. I know that many times you don’t even know what to post and then you fall into the trap of only a certain type of message, but for that you can do a simple thing: make a plan at least for a period of a month in which you will pass everything you want to post on Facebook (pictures, texts, links). This way you will see if a certain type of message is repeated a lot and where you should still make adjustments.

  1. The Facebook page is made only because it is fashionable

This can be seen from the first moment. What does this mean? It means that your Facebook page doesn’t do anything, doesn’t want to communicate with fans, it just exists because you’ve heard it’s trendy. There are many such pages, where you see some pictures from time to time, without messages, without links, without interaction.

If you don’t invest time especially to grow in the online environment, where most of your customers and potential customers spend most of their time, you will only lose. Maintain a constant connection with them and you will see that your business will also do better.

  1. You don’t post in real time

If there are news in the field in which you operate, you must be aware of them nevertheless. Once you find out something, it’s important to pass it on to your community. If your competitors get ahead of you, customers will appreciate their information more, given that it was shared with them in real time, so you risk losing them.

  1. Share only what others post

Is your page full of others’ posts and your contribution is zero? Then it’s clearly not something your community wants to see. Create your own unique content that reflects the field of activity in which you operate.

  1. You don’t constantly monitor results

What are the results of the latest posts created? If you don’t have an answer to this question, it’s time to measure each result, so you get where you want to go. Basically, each post has a purpose for which you share it online, which is why you need to check if today’s post has reached where you intended it from the beginning.
